Michael Osterweil

Since 1986, Michael Osterweil has been credited with the development of a unique painting style. Through profound diligence, he has achieved a level of detail, intensity and depth of colors unparalleled in the world of watercolor. He created a collection of 40 portraits based on Alice’s Adventure in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass, as well as a collection of life-size watercolors derived from Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream. Michael’s works have been shown in over 50 galleries and museum shows, starting in Paris in 1959 at the Bernhim June Gallery. He was born in Berlin in 1932 and grew up in Palestine (later Israel). As an adult, he spent over 20 years in Europe, living in London, Hamburg, Paris, Southern France, Italy and Madrid. In 1974, he relocated to Caracas and in 1977 moved to New York. Michael lived in Arizona since 1994 and passed away at the end of 2017.
